Spectacular Evening Launches Second Year of Endowment Campaign
By Tracy A. Politowicz

October 2005

While there are few certainties in life, with its 2005 Endowment Campaign, Table to Table will strive to make the ongoing operation of its trucks one of them.

For the past six years, Table to Table has run the first and only food rescue program in Northeast New Jersey and one of the most efficient programs of its type in the country. As a result, numerous organizations that provide food for the hungry have become dependent on its deliveries of perishable food provided by area supermarkets, restaurants, corporate cafeterias, and other donors.

Table to Table would like to guarantee its commitment to the communities it serves by ensuring its trucks will continue to roll in the future, independent of the state of the economy, other fundraising efforts, or additional factors. An endowment of $3 million will achieve that goal, covering the costs, such as driver salaries, gasoline, insurance, maintenance, etc. required to operate its three vehicles and ultimately to replace them, when necessary.

The organization has always depended solely on its loyal supporters to keep its trucks on the road, helping to feed thousands of hungry New Jersey residents. Thus, these supporters are critical to the successful establishment of an endowment, the dream of founder and President Claire Insalata Poulos.

“It has always been our intention for the service provided by Table to Table to be a permanent gift to the communities we help. An endowment will allow us to continue providing fresh and wholesome food to our neighbors on an ongoing basis. This gift has the power to dramatically change these communities forever,” said Ms. Insalata Poulos.

To launch the second year of the Endowment Campaign, an Endowment Dinner was held on Thursday, October 6 at Gloria Crest, the spectacular former estate of legendary film star Gloria Swanson.

This extraordinary event included a champagne reception, a self-guided tour of the historic estate, an elegant dinner prepared by renowned chefs, and entertainment by Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter/musician Melissa Manchester. Most importantly, it highlighted the essential service provided by Table to Table and requested its supporters’ generous assistance in achieving this important goal and fulfilling the dream that has defined the organization since its inception.
