Table to Table Newsletter Spring Ahead
March, 2006

Greetings,

These long winter months have helped us appreciate the roof over our heads and the plentiful food that has sustained us until the arrival of spring. Table to Table takes great comfort in knowing that we are continuing to provide at least one of life's basic necessities - wholesome, nutritious food - to some of the less fortunate in our community who may be finding it difficult to make ends meet. In this issue, we are proud to announce that in 2005 we rescued and delivered enough food to serve more than 4 million meals, exceeding our goal by one half million meals. With your loyal support, we vow to continue this fight by setting the bar even higher in 2006.

Donor Focus: Control Services Group

Control Services Group, one of Table to Table’s founding sponsors, is a 100 year old four generation family-run business  providing a comprehensive array of “total facility” services (including construction, maintenance, building management, security, landscaping, janitorial, manpower, etc.) to airports, shopping malls, retail chains, and other large facilities across the nation.  Edward Turen, Control’s CEO, (like many other Table to Table supporters), became involved with the organization after attending one of its extraordinary food and wine events.  He is proud to support an organization that provides “ten-fold gifting,” taking each $1,000 contribution and using it to provide food for 10,000 meals to those in need.

Recipient Focus: The Hoboken Shelter
The mission of The Hoboken Shelter, which was established in 1982 by The Clergy Coalition, is to provide safe haven to homeless adult men and women in Hudson County. This mission is accomplished each and every day.  An invaluable lifeline, The Hoboken Shelter serves 150 meals and shelters 50 individuals daily and offers a variety of educational and life-enriching programs and workshops for the homeless. “It is fantastic to have the support of Table to Table,” says Executive Director Jaclyn Sherubini. She knows when the Table to Table truck has arrived each Thursday, because “at last, there is plenty of food and the kitchen staff members are always in great spirits.”

Thank you, Panera Bread

Panera Bread began the New Year with a show of continued support for Table to Table's food rescue program. A check for $10,000 was presented to Executive Director Ilene Isaacs by Panera's Marketing Coordinator, Chad Jones, at the company's Route 4 cafe in Paramus.

Fresh Food Drives

In the spirit of the holidays, Hudson City Savings Bank and Wachovia Bank held fresh and perishable food drives in December. A Table to Table refrigerated truck was on-site as employees arrived at work with all or some of the fixings for the preparation of holiday meals for those who might otherwise miss the festivities. These events were very successful and employees were gratified to know that their contributions would make a difference in the lives of so many of their hungry neighbors. For more information on how your company or school can raise food and funds for Table to Table, contact Ilene Isaacs at (201) 444-5500.

Table to Table Delivers Four Million Meals

Table to Table is thrilled to announce that its 2005 goal was not only met but exceeded! Last year, working together, we delivered enough food to serve more than four million wholesome and nutritious meals -- and we accomplished it ahead of schedule, delivering our four millionth meal by early December! This remarkable number represents an approximate 23 percent increase over the number of meals delivered in 2004, marking a gratifying continuation of the growth that the organization has experienced since its inception.
