From its modest beginning in 1988, when volunteers started distributing a handful of soup cans to a few visitors, the food pantry at Father English Community Center in Paterson has grown dramatically. Under the leadership of Director Carlos Roldan, the pantry now serves more than 2,000 hungry people per month.

The Center recently established an innovative new concept, distributing points to recipients based upon family size, thus allowing them to "shop" in the pantry for those items most needed. Director Roldan tells us that the highest traffic days are Mondays and Wednesdays, when "shoppers" rush in to select fresh vegetables, fruit and meats provided by Table to Table twice each week.
